Via Sadagopan, Forbes has published "Ten Laws of the Modern World," or the digital rules shaping a new world economy. Two of my favorites:
- When all else is equal, David Ricardo's rule of comparative advantage comes into play. The Internet illustrates this point perfectly. By removing barriers to information flow, it rewards fresh thinking. In a transparent economy, better information does not necessarily mean more data. It means a better take on the data you have, better meaning making.
- Walter Wriston "predicted the rise of electronic networks and their chief effect. He said capital (meaning both money and ideas) when freed to travel at the speed of light 'will go where it is wanted, stay where it is well-treated'' in his 1992 book The Twilight of Sovereignty.
